Common mistakes making money online: My own experience part 1
Just like anyone else, I made mistakes—common mistakes making money online—because I'm not perfect or a genius; I'm just a person who learned along the way. It's all about trial and error, and that's why today I want to share with you the mistakes I made so that you don't have to go down that path.
In life, you always have to make mistakes to learn, but surely you'll carve your own path in your own way. If you're here reading this, it's because you're someone who's already on a good track since you won't make the common mistakes I did. So let's start with the most important thing.
Lack of consistency, discipline, and self-belief
Before anything else, in the online world, you need more confidence and discipline than in a conventional job. If you're working as a freelancer or doing surveys or gaming, you might not have a set schedule; you lack consistency and discipline, which are common mistakes making money online. You may not even believe it's possible to live off the internet.
However, it is possible. This was one of my first mistakes because I thought at first that I wouldn't earn more than a few cents a day. Fortunately, as I kept researching and improving my skills, those cents per day turned into dollars daily until I managed to sustain myself with good income—much more than what I'd earn from an in-person job.
Lack of organization
Since I started at an early age, I wasn't organized in what I was doing and this is a common mistakes making money online, and this reflected in my consistency, which also affected my performance in my activities. For example, one day I'd write a few articles for my websites; another day I'd create a video blog for YouTube; then I'd go days without doing anything. What does this mean? A lack of organization is one of the common mistakes making money online, but if you want to avoid that, you should use Notion.
The best thing is to always set a schedule or calendar for your tasks—whether you're working as a freelancer or expanding your horizons with your own website or even improving your skills. This is an important point because although I didn't make this mistake myself, it's more common than you think. In the online world, you should always strive to be better every day, every hour, every minute.
Not participating in communities or events
At the beginning of my journey online, I didn't want to participate in forums or communities; I didn't want to connect with anyone. I always thought I could do it alone. The truth is that you'll always need help—maybe in something you don't know about like graphic design or SEO.
While many answers are available on the internet, asking questions and connecting with others who are at a similar point can help you avoid common mistakes making money online since you might need link building or some recommendations. That's why I encourage you to participate in these communities or forums; you never know what great connections you can make.
Common mistakes making money online: Do what you love
I know that not all websites or audiences have the same value regarding advertising and how much can be earned because the cost per click varies based on region and target audience. But you can't dedicate yourself to the online world looking to make money from something that doesn't make you happy.
This was one of my first mistakes: focusing on a website topic that I really didn't like but was one of Google's highest-paying topics. When I managed to create my second website, the landscape was completely different.
Since there are many mistakes and details involved—including common mistakes making money online—I’ve decided to break this topic into a series of articles so it won't be so tedious to read me. But I hope you've learned something today, and I'll see you in the next blog.
